Building on the success of the 2017/18 refurbishment of this Christchurch mall, WMZA also contributed to the potential future redevelopment plans for the existing facility via a recent planning application.
Our design increases the mall’s size and offering via more fashion-centric retail tenancies and a new indoor/outdoor two-level food and office precinct around a north facing public space; the proposed hospitality zone building on the already established food-related tenancies along Aikmans Road. The current on-grade carpark would be relocated into a dedicated multi-level carpark over the mall extension – with the majority of that softened via extensive landscape screening and a new residential edge along Akela Street facing the existing residential neighbourhoods to the west.
The proposed terrace housing comprises a mix of 3 level 3 bed units of varying façade designs, with predominantly west facing and internalised outdoor areas for privacy and outlook.
