Located opposite the western entry into the Sylvia Park Shopping Centre and a stone throw from the SE Arterial motorway, this site presented the client with an opportunity to create a better commercial offering than what was in the immediate area. The design proposed was a more up market take on this genre of building – which provided four tenancies with flexible areas of retail and storage/ manufacture.
The building’s roof forms add stature and help disguise the basic sectional shape of the building; the building footprint cups the roadside visitor carpark area to enhance the street corner aspect of the location. The main footpath canopy and the shopfront glazing unifies and ties the tenancies together, while the flying eaves and tilted columns creates two end facades that respond to the two roads that bound and define the site. A rear one way lane provides service access but is discrete enough to discourage customers.
